Abstract

In English, the relative clause is also called the attributive clause, which is led by a relative word such as which, who, whom, that, and so on. According to the relation between the relative word and its antecedent, the English attributive clause can be divided into restrictive attributive clause and non-restrictive attributive clause. To find out the modifier in the attributive clause is always a difficult problem in its translation. This thesis emphasizes the importance of free translation by analyzing several kinds of translating methods of the subordinate clauses, and translating them into attributive structures, adverbial clauses, independent clauses, predicate structures and objects. It also uses the pragmatic method to explore the possibility of equivalence in meaning by transforming appropriately the surface structure, especially the grammar structure of a sentence, when translating.

摘   要

關(guān)系分句是由關(guān)系詞引導(dǎo)的分句結(jié)構(gòu)，這種分句結(jié)構(gòu)又稱(chēng)為“定語(yǔ)結(jié)構(gòu)”。就其與先行項(xiàng)的語(yǔ)義關(guān)系，定語(yǔ)從句分為限制性定語(yǔ)從句和非限制性定語(yǔ)從句。定語(yǔ)從句的修飾對(duì)象1直是翻譯中經(jīng)常遇到而難以把握的問(wèn)題。本文通過(guò)分析定語(yǔ)從句翻譯的幾種處理方法：譯成定語(yǔ)結(jié)構(gòu)、狀語(yǔ)從句、獨(dú)立句、謂語(yǔ)結(jié)構(gòu)、賓語(yǔ)等來(lái)說(shuō)明翻譯中意譯的重要性，并用語(yǔ)用學(xué)的方法來(lái)探討翻譯過(guò)程中表層結(jié)構(gòu)（此處主要指語(yǔ)法結(jié)構(gòu)）的適當(dāng)轉(zhuǎn)變來(lái)達(dá)到意義上對(duì)等的可行性。
